Biker seriously hurt in crash with Police car

Fri, 03 Jun 2011

A biker is seriously injured after they crashed into a Police Range Rover on the Mountain Road.

The police vehicle was stopped at the time as officers dealt with a seperate crash at the 32nd Milestone.

The collision also involved a Honda and a Suzuki motorbike.

The rider of the Honda had slowed behind the police vehicle but was hit from behind by the Suzuki, which then hit the back of the Range Rover.

The rider of the Honda was unhurt but the Suzuki rider is seriously ill in hospital.

The road was closed for around four hours whilst investigations were carried out.

Police say the Mountain Road was very busy at the time and they want to speak to witnesses.

In particular, it's thought the occupants of a campervan may have seen the crash.

The number for Police Headquarters is 631212.
