Classic cruise ship to visit Island

Mon, 13 Jun 2011

A classic cruise ship is to make its annual trip to the Isle of Man later this month.

Balmoral is due in Douglas on June 25th from Whitehaven, and from Galieston in Scotland the following day.

However it could be one of the last times the Balmoral visits the Island, with rising costs to keep the vessel running.

A public appeal to find £350,000 to keep Balmoral and the paddle steamer Waverley sailing next year has been launched.

It's estimated that the fuel bill for Balmoral this year will be 40% higher than last year.

Manx residents can buy tickets for an excursion to the Calf of Man.

Tickets can be booked through waverleyexcursions.co.uk
