June sitting of Tynwald gets underway this morning

Tue, 21 Jun 2011

Taxi laws, child sex offenders and breast surgery are amongst the topics to be discussed in this month's sitting of Tynwald.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will ask the Home Affairs Minister about sex offences against children on the Island over the last five years, and also if he'll reconsider whether the Island should bring in Sarah's law.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne will make a statement on taxi legislation, and also seek funding for works on the Northern Civic Amentity Site and at Jurby Airfield.

Brenda Cannell will continue her campaign for the Island to keep a dedicated breast care surgeon. The Department of Health plans to hire a general surgeon with a special interest in breast surgery.

Tynwald sits from 10.30 this morning
