A vicar has been cleared of stealing money from the church.

Canon David Green who was in charge at Maughold Church was accused of theft and false accounting to the tune of £11,000.

The offences were alleged to have been committed between 1997 and 2009.

The defence in the case maintained he hadn't been dishonest and that any financial irregularities were down to poor administration.

High Bailiff John Needham found Canon Green not guilty, saying prosecutors hadn't proved the dishonesty of the defendant.
