£1.5m needed for railway track replacement

Thu, 30 Jun 2011

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure will ask for Tynwald approval to spend £1.5m to finish replacing the Snaefell Mountain Railway track.

It's the second part of a £3m refurbishment scheme.

The Department says the tracks are in urgent need of replacement as they are in a critically poor condition.

Meanwhile, the Department has already invested £230,000 pounds in refurbishing the Summit Restaurant on Snaefell.

The official opening is being held this Saturday.
