Still hope for Protours as workers are told of job losses

Thu, 28 Jul 2011

There's hope a local coach company won't have to close despite staff being given redundancy notices.

All 15 workers at Protours were told of the news yesterday.

Over the next three months the company will look at re-scaling and restructuring the business.

It's being blamed on the loss of government contracts for things like school travel.

The work is no longer being outsourced and is going to Bus Vannin.

Protours boss Roy Lightfoot understands government's position, but thinks the contracts should go out to tender.[play media file below]
