An election candidate for Ramsey says the Island needs a firmer VAT agreement with the UK, or to go it alone.

John McDonough believes the Isle of Man should move to prevent the UK being able to make further changes.

The civil servant says the economy is a big concern for the Island.

He thinks the Island should look at abrogation if the UK won't give more security over the agreement [take cut]

Also standing in Ramsey are Economic Development Minister Allan Bell, Treasury Minister Anne Craine, Ramsey Commissioner Leonard Singer, accountant Lawrie Hooper and Liberal Vannin candidate Linda Bowers Kasch
