Keys candidate believes more investment needed in motorsport

Wed, 07 Sep 2011

An election candidate for Castletown thinks the Island should be investing in motorsport.

David Pownall wants to see a purpose built race track constructed, and believes it could be funded by putting a tax on work permits.

He believes the Isle of Man relies too heavily on income from the TT and the Manx Grand Prix, which he fears could be stopped within the next ten years because of health and safety.

Mr Pownall says a new facility would provide a safe raceway for motorbikes, and could attract new opportunities: [Play media file below]

Also seeking election in Castletown are Richard Ronan, Carol Quine, Colin Leather, Jason Moorhouse and Mahendra Patel.
