Modern races remain priority say MGP organisers

Wed, 21 Sep 2011

The programme for the 2012 Manx Grand Prix will be similar to this year's event according to organisers.

There's been talk recently about the possibility of making changes to the races, but the Manx Motorcycle Club seems happy with the current format.

There've been suggestions it could become a classic meeting.

However, the MMCC says modern races remain priority.

This year there were high entry levels for many classes, but organisers say there was only a marginal increase in the classic races.

The event is also said to have attracted more visitors to the Island.

The Department of Economic Development says numbers are up around 10% on 2010.

Looking at figures given for last year, it would seem there were around a thousand more visitors for the 2011 Manx Grand Prix.
