A Union boss has been speaking to prospective MHKs about introducing laws to protect maritime workers.

Steve Todd, the national secretary of the RMT union, wants the Isle of Man to bring in the Transfer of Undertaking (Protection of Employment) Legislation.

The rules - known as TUPE - offer protection to employees when their work is transferred to another company.

This situation affected the Island earlier this year when the new owners took over at the Steam Packet Company.

Mr Todd explains that this legislation is already in place elsewhere [play clip]
