Post Office has 'robust' procedures to deal with suspect packages

Fri, 21 Oct 2011

The Isle of Man Post Office says it has robust procedures in place to deal with suspect packages.

Two parcels containing an unidentified liquid were intercepted at the sorting office by police last week.

Nobody was harmed.

The letters were addressed to local finance companies.

It's thought they orignated from Algeria, like similar packages received by local businesses in 2009.

The substance inside is still being tested.

The Post Office says it has measures in place to protect staff and the public.

Police Search Advisor Kevin Williams says the Post Office handled the situation well.[play media file below]
