MHK seeks reassurance over drug enforcement

Wed, 09 Nov 2011

An MHK believes a large amount of illegal drugs are getting into the Island without being seized by police.

Ramsey member Leonard Singer raised the matter in the House of Keys this week.

Mr Singer suggested most seizures are from low level dealers and major dealers aren't being caught.

However, Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson doesn't believe that's the case.

He says 800,000 worth of drugs have been seized in the last three years - and at times this has shown to have had impact on what's been available on the streets. [play media file below]
