No compromise over pet cemetery closure

Sat, 12 Nov 2011

It's confirmed a pet cemetery in Greeba is to close to the public.

The cemetery lies on private land at Beaufield Park, formally called Cronk Dhoo.

It's had a new owner recently who put up signs restricting public access after they received abuse from a small number of visitors.

The owner has now taken legal advice and it's confirmed any contracts taken out for plots on the land were with the previous owner.

People can make arrangements to remove any headstones they've placed there and assurance is given that the site won't be developed or disturbed.

MHK David cretney got involved with discussions with the landowner after he was approached by constituents.

He aplogises for not being able to instigate a compromise.[play media file below]
