MHK questions reason for recent sailing cancellations

Questions over cancellations to sailings are to be raised in the House of Keys next week.

Douglas South member Kate Beecroft wants to know whether the recent cancellations to the Ben my Chree have been due to bad weather or mechanical problems with the vessel.

The Steam Packet Company has cancelled Ben my Chree sailings on 4 occasions in the last 5 weeks, citing adverse weather conditions on each occasion.

Mrs Beecroft will ask Infrastructure Minister David Cretney whether problems with the bow thrusters have been a factor, and what can be done to reduce cancellations in the future.
