The mother of a Manx Grand Prix rider who died at this year's event has been paying tribute to her son.

Sonya Hamilton made a statement at the inquest into the death of her son Wayne.

The 20 year old died after colliding with a tree at the 13th milestone during this year's Junior race.

Mrs Hamilton said Wayne excelled at everything he took part in, including various sports and art.

She told the court she was proud of her son and everything he'd done in his life, short though it was.

Coroner of Inquests Jayne Hughes recorded a verdict of misadventure, adding that the death was a tragedy coming just two days after Mr Hamilton won the newcomers race.
