Hercules freight plane arrival cancelled

Wed, 21 Dec 2011

The planned visit of a Hercules aircraft bringing in cargo for a local supermarket branch has now been cancelled.

Marks and Spencer had arranged for the charter of an ex-military plane to bring in Christmas goods after recent disruptions to sailings.

Two trips were due to be made to the Isle of Man tonight and tomorrow morning, but Airport Director Anne Reynolds says it's been confirmed this afternoon that the company will now bring the freight in by sea.

The Ben-my-Chree has now been fixed after suffering technical problems, meaning cargo shipments are now more or less back to normal.
