Onchan rates increase

Tue, 24 Jan 2012

Onchan rates are to go up for the first time in three years.

The move was decided at a commissioners meeting last night.

They'll go up by 1.8% to 271 pence in the pound.

The need to raise the rates is in part being blamed on the government putting up the cost of domestic waste disposal.

Onchan Commissioners have also lost the contract to provide refuse services for Braddan Commissioners and this will also cost the authority more money.
