Peel and Castletown pitches closed after failed inspection

Sat, 04 Feb 2012

Two of the Island's synthetic pitches have had to be closed in the evenings after the floodlights failed a safety inspection.

All evening activities have been cancelled at the pitches in Peel and Castletown until the problems are fixed.

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure inspects all of its pitches on a five year cycle.

A review this week revealed problems which could have safety implications.

Works to fix the defects are expected to take around three weeks.

The facilities can still be used during daylight hours.

Ramsey, the NSC and the Bowl are unaffected.
