MHK raises questions about second casino licence

Questions over applications to open a second casino on the Island are to be raised in the House of Keys next week.

Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer wants to know how many expressions of interest the Department of Economic Development has received since asking for those interested in operating the second hotel and casino complex to get in touch.

He'll also ask how many are considered viable, whether the successful applicant will be eligible for a grant and whether the Department will bear in mind the effect a second casino could have on the existing facilities.

Mr Singer's questions will be answered by Economic Development Minister John Shimmin on Tuesday.
