The Chief Minister says the Island needs a fairer system for nursery education.

Allan Bell has set up a working group to look into the future of preschool on the Island.

The Department of Education and Children is ending its funding for the preschool provision.

The DEC has been looking at options for a private or voluntary organisation to take over its facilities.

A 3600 signature petition was handed to Mr Bell earlier this week, asking that the Government continues its funding of preschool.

He says there will still be nursery places available to parents, but changes are needed to the current set-up [play clip]
