Minister to consider health effects of telephone masts
Wed, 29 Feb 2012
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney MHK
The Infrastructure Minister is to look again at plans to build a telephone mast near to a school in Onchan.
David Cretney was asked about the mobile phone mast which has permission to be built on West Drive, near to the new Bemahague School.
A number of MHKs were concerned about the health effects of siting such a mast near to a school, whilst Onchan member Zac Hall spoke of new research calling for all masts to be banned within one mile of schools.
Mr Cretney said he'd happily look at the medical research and a number of other points raised in the debate.
However, he says the plans do meet the restrictions currently in place [play clip]
