Onchan would look to volunteers to keep mobile library service

Wed, 07 Mar 2012

Onchan Commissioners says it'll look to the third sector to keep a mobile library facility in the village.

The Department of Education and Children is currently planning cuts to library services, including mobile libraries.

The Commissioners are worried that not everyone can access the library in the village, so may be left without library services if the mobile facility is lost.

The Deputy Clerk for the board say he will ask the Librarian if a voluntary organisation would be able to maintain a degree of service if the mobile library ends.

However, the DEC has said that it would be interested in helping the local authority maintain the service of the mobile library.
