A government working party is to look at alternative ways to provide library services.

The family library in Douglas is due to close this summer and the mobile library will also stop operating.

The news was unpopular with some people who're now campaigning for them to stay open.

Education Minister Peter Karran, Community, Culture and Leisure Minister Tim Crookall and Infrastructure Minister David Cretney will look at different ways to provide the services.

Chief Minister Allan Bell is optimistic a solution can be found.

But he says it needs to be cost effective..[play clip]
