More than 7,000 people are now using social media to connect with the Manx police force.

Over the past months, officers have been using Facebook and Twitter to appeal for witnesses and give updates about incidents including crashes and road closures.

The idea has proved popular with public.

The Constabulary now plans to embrace technology further and more developments are in the pipeline.

Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says one plan should mean police officers will spend more time on patrol and less time in the office.
