Preparation works for this year's Southern 100 are due to get underway in the south of the Island next week.

The Department of Infrastructure has announced it'll be repainting some kerbs on the Billown course following some concern and criticism.

Kerbs have previously been painted for tradition rather than safety.

As a result, the ACU has reviewed the course and highlighted which areas need the markings to ensure riders see the kerbs.

Temporary speed limits will be put in place whilst the work is carried out.

Depending on the weather conditions, it's expected the painting will be finished by April 25th.
