Funds sought to stabilise Ballure cliffs

Wed, 02 May 2012

Tynwald is to be asked to approve spending of over £400,000 to continue works to stabilise the cliffs at Ballure.

Emergency works have been carried out there recently following a large land slip in November last year.

The slippage has left the MER, MEA and a public footpath at risk, as well as the Ramsey coast road and nearby properties.

Coastal erosion has been a problem at Ballure for many years, and plans to stabilise the land there had already been in the pipeline.

Director of Forestry, Amenities and Lands at DEFA - Andrew Sidebottom - says the works won't just be a temporary fix [play clip]
