A Douglas man is about to embark on a year long challenge to take a million vertical steps.

Roger Davies will mainly carry out his epic task at the Gasworks steps between South Quay and Head Road.

He will need to take an average of 2,740 steps a day.

At times over the next year he'll be accompanied by Snowboarder Zoe Gillings, Parish Walk star Robbie Callister, Chief Minister Allan Bell, ex World Superbike champion James Toseland and other guests.

Roger who works as a fitness trainer will start his challenge at 7pm tonight.
