MEA warns of hoax callers

Mon, 14 May 2012

Hoax callers claiming to be from the MEA appear to be targeting Island residents.

There've been several reports of people receiving telephone calls informing them that they are on an emergency tariff which needs to be changed.

The Manx Electricity Authority says it doesn't have an emergency tariff and warns people not to hand over any personal details.

Anyone who's unsure can contact the MEA on the 687675.

The Office of Fair Trading has been notified of the potential scam.
