Developer updates DoI on Lord Street plans

Mon, 21 May 2012

The Department of Infrastructure has been meeting with the developer who’s planning to build a new hotel complex on a key site in Douglas.

Askett Hawk wants to put a four-star hotel and apartments, along with retail and restaurant facilities at the former bus station on Lord Street.

The site has been empty for a number of years and development has been slow to move forward.

Talks with the company first began in 2006.

An agreement is in place between Askett Hawk and the DoI, which states that the company needs to submit a planning application within months.

At a meeting last week, Minister David Cretney says he was given an update on the proposals.

He’s confident things are moving forward.[play media file below]
