Changes in installing mobile phone masts on the way?

New proposals are being put forward which would see radical changes to the way the Island’s telecoms companies can apply to install mobile phone masts.
The Department of Infrastructure is looking to change permitted development rights which up until now have been granted to Manx Telecom – and not competitor Sure.
It means any potential developments would have to go through public consultation or rights of appeal.
According to the department it’s in an effort to both even out the playing field and allow the public to have their say if a mast could potentially impact them.
