Police say ill informed and inflammatory comments have been made on social media sites after a dog was injured in Ramsey.

Pictures of the animal have been posted on Facebook, showing a wound on the dog's head.

It's claimed the animal was in the garden of a house on Queen's Road on Monday afternoon when it was injured.

It's thought the injury could have been caused by a stone being thrown from outside the property.

The picture on Facebook has led to speculation on how the dog was hurt and inflammatory comments have been posted.

Police and the owner ask that the focus be on the dog's welfare and anyone with information is asked to call Ramsey Station on 812234.
