MGP changes confirmed

The Manx Motorcycle Club and Department of Economic Development have given a definitive update on the future direction of the Manx Grand Prix.

The new-look festival will commence from next year with particular emphasis on the Classic Machines whilst still retaining elements of the existing races.

Four Classic TT Races will now take over the traditional middle weekend of racing and August Bank Holiday Monday, with Manx Grand Prix races scheduled to run on the following Wednesday and Friday.

The Manx Motor Cycle Club will assume responsibility for the role of promoter and organiser of the Manx Grand Prix races, with financial assistance being provided by the Department.

Head of Motorsport Trevor Hussey says the changes were never about Government's dislike of the event, but purely about improving its enormous potential:
