Warning over vehicle scam

There’s a new potential scam doing the rounds that the public have been warned to be wary of.

It’s another cold calling hoax geared toward tricking the person at the other end of the line into handing over their bank details.

The caller is claiming to be from the Department of Infrastructure’s vehicle licensing team, offering an option to pay for vehicle road tax by direct debit.

Chief executive of the Office of Fair Trading Mike Ball says the department has no connection to this and has warned the public to be vigilant:
