Report leads to public consultation on territorial waters

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

A major project to bring together information on the Manx territorial waters has reached the public consultation stage.

The report is the culmination of work carried out by over 150 groups and individuals, with funding coming from the departments of Infrastructure, Economic Development and Environment, Food and Agriculture.

As part of the work the locations of key habitats and species, Manx shipwrecks and cables and pipelines have all been mapped.

It’s hoped the findings can inform future management decisions in Manx waters.

Another avenue the report has looked into is how the seas can generate money for government.
