No plans to copy Channel Island's health service

The Isle of Man does not intend to copy the health service in Jersey and Guernsey.

That's according to the chief executive of the Department of Health who has recently returned from a ministerial meeting in the Channel Islands.

David Killip says a move away from the current NHS-style service to one more privately funded, as seen in the other crown dependencies, would be too much of a shift.

Healthcare in Jersey and Guernsey is fundamentally different to the Isle of Man's, which has been in place since the introduction of the NHS in the UK in 1948.

Mr Killip says he cant foresee it changing anytime soon:
