Advice on avoiding debt over Christmas

With December now upon us and Christmas fever setting in the Office of Fair Trading is offering timely advice to help consumers steer clear of debt.

It's urging people to plan early and avoid impulse spending - avoiding forgeting everyday life amidst all the hype.

The OFT also suggests generating extra money by selling unused and unwanted items, using local on-line selling sites.

If extra money is needed you’re urged not to borrow from unregistered lenders, you’re also advised to avoid traders you don’t trust.
