Contingency plans working well says Minister

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Contingency plans to ease the pressure of the bus strikes are progressing well – according to the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

Bus drivers and tram and steam railway staff have been praised for working tirelessly since the industrial action started this morning.

Minister Graham Cregeen says there have been some operational difficulties to contend with including road traffic incidents and the bad weather which did cause some delays.

He says he hopes the public shares his view that a reduced service is preferable to no service.

The DCCL says it will be looking at any tweaks to the plans which need to be made in time for tomorrow.
