Revelers asked to consider their neighbours

Mon, 31 Dec 2012

Anyone planning to have a party for New Year’s Eve is asked to consider their neighbours.

That’s the message from the police who are reminding the public about the potential fallout from noisy events.

Under the Noise Act 2006 it is an offence, after being warned, to cause noise and disturbance between 11pm and 7am.

If people flout these rules police have the power to enter the property and remove any item or people who are causing excessive noise.

Inspector Mark Britton says the police don’t want to spoil anybody’s fun but consideration is needed: (Play media file below)
