Student fee campaign group speak out against amendments

The Department of Education and Children announced an amendment to their controversial plans to scrap the student awards scheme this week.

Whereas the minimum contribution from 2014 of £2,500 still remains the same, the sole liability of the loans now rests with the students, instead of their parents.

It’s hoped by doing this it will remove the burden placed on the parents, who may not have been able to take on that financial burden.

Ramsey Grammar School sixth form student Chris Owen is the spokesperson for Student Organisation Against Fees.

He says although it is a positive step in the right direction he still feels enough isn’t being done:
