Dentist shortage leads to increased waiting times

Anyone waiting for a routine dental check-up faces a delay due to a lack of dentists.

The Department of Health has admitted it is short staffed and will have to delay some services.

This will affect adults who are waiting for routine dental treatment or check-up appointments. Children will be seen as normal.

The department has blamed the shortage of salaried dentists on long term sickness and difficulties in recruitment.
