Solway Harvester could be disposed of this year

It’s taken more than 13 years but government says it’s ‘cautiously optimistic’ that the Solway Harvester can be disposed of this year.

The Scottish scallop dredger sank off the coast of Ramsey in January 2000 killing all seven crew.

Ongoing legal action has prevented the disposal of the boat but it’s been confirmed now that it’s no longer needed as evidence.

It’s the Department of Infrastructure’s responsibility to find a way of getting rid of the vessel as it’s been in Manx waters since it was recovered.

Director of Harbours Captain Michael Brew told us how they plan to get rid of it:
