Tuition fee proposal amendments unlikely to change by next Tynwald

The Education Minister says deferring a vote on tuition fees until next month will allow for new proposals to be further finessed.

Tim Crookall presented the revised plans to Tynwald late in Tuesday’s sitting, with members asking for a postponement so they can have more time to consider the amendments.

Although the base level of fee contribution remains unaltered at £2,500 loans would now be available to all students. The means testing level cap has also been increased to £100,000.

However Mr Crookall says the finished document is likely to remain unchanged from what went before the members on Tuesday:
