Minister Robertshaw allays fears surrounding tenancy changes

Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw has addressed some misunderstandings about the newly announced changes to fixed term tenancies for public sector housing.

From April all new council house tenancies will be awarded for a fixed period of two years.

At the end of the two years things like income will be assessed to establish if the individual is still right for that property, and if so should the rent be increased.

It's seen as the first step towards the introduction of means testing as the current system is no longer sustainable.

The Minister said those set to be affected shouldn’t be overly concerned:
