MHK wants more done to tackle drugs in prison

An MHK says he believes more needs to be done to rehabilitate prisoners with drug and alcohol problems.

Laurence Skelly raised the issue in the House of Keys with Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson earlier this week.

Figures revealed on Tuesday showed that two fifths of the prison population were there for drug and alcohol related offences.

Current rehabilitation includes access to the Drug and Alcohol Team and non-compulsory education.

The department is also looking to introduce performance indicators to measure success.

However Mr Skelly says more needs to be done:
