The Health Minister is defending changes to dental treatment and prescriptions saying if people can pay they should.

Earlier this week it was announced that the Department of Health is seeking permission to bring the exemption age in line with the state pension age by June.

As it stands both men and women over the age of 60 are exempt from paying for prescriptions and over 65 for dental charges.

There's also been a warning that the department will be looking at means testing everyone in the future.
