New employment body wouldn't create radical changes

Civil servants wouldn’t notice any radical changes under new plans to modernise government’s employment structures.

A public consultation is being launched after Easter on the Public Services Commission.

This would replace the Civil Service Commission and Whitley Council and bring together civil servants and manual and craft workers under one authority.

The new body would look after a workforce of around 4,000 and would simplify employment structures and terms and conditions.

Alf Cannan, is chairman of both bodies at present, he says workers shouldn't be concerned:
