Drivers were ready to accept proposal says Union

Bus drivers were ready to resolve their ongoing pay dispute until a new resolution was pulled at the last minute.

That’s the claim from Unite the Union which says it had almost come to an agreement with the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

The proposal would have seen drivers lose the controversial paid lunch break but maintain a number of other terms and conditions.

However the union is claiming it was pulled at the last minute by the DCCL which has sparked another strike next Wednesday.

And national passenger officer Bobby Morton says it will lodge a claim if drivers aren’t allowed to work between strike periods:
