A former Rushen MHK has declared his intention to stand in the upcoming Douglas West by-election.

Quintin Gill will go up alongside Chris Thomas, Martin Moore, John Skinner and Clive Dawson.

Mr Gill, who represented Rushen between 2001 and 2011, is standing down from his role as a social worker to contest the seat.

He says he is conscious that people are concerned about Tynwald’s 'seemingly muted' response to the financial challenges facing the Isle of Man and doesn't believe enough progress has been made since he was last in office:

Nominations to fill the seat left vacant by Geoff Corkish’s move to the Legislative Council close next Tuesday.
