TT safety campaign calls for respect of the roads

Motorists are being urged to “Respect Our Roads” as the countdown to TT starts.

The Department of Infrastructure and the police have launched a new safety campaign targeting both residents and visitors.

Traditionally over the TT period there's an increase in the number of collisions - many of them fatal - due to an increase of traffic on the roads.

In previous years campaigns have focused on the aftermath of an incident – this year’s highlights the number of people who use the roads on a daily basis and whose lives could be changed in the event of an incident.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts responded to claims that serious accidents during the period are an inevitability:
