Infrastructure to ask for Tynwald approval to commence phase one of Promenade works

Fri, 28 Jun 2013

Tynwald will be asked to approve significant expenditure for the first phase of the Douglas Promenade improvement scheme.

In July’s sitting the Department of Infrastructure will ask for a sum not exceeding £1,658,000 to carry out the works.

Phase one will see improvements made to both Walpole Avenue and Victoria Street Junctions, new natural stone footways put in place, and the minor relocation of the Jubilee Clock.

It’s anticipated the works would take roughly a year to complete.

It’s hoped the works will re-establish the promenade as the gateway to the capital.
